The O-1G, manufactured by the US Cessna Aircraft Company, is powered by an O-47O-11 reciprocating engine with 213 horsepower. It has a maximum speed of 130 knots (241 km/h) and a service ceiling of 20,000 feet (6,096 m). The O-1G is capable of carrying smoke rockets or smoke bombs. Easy to maintain and suitable for short takeoff and landing on forward control base, it performed well in close air support operations during the Vietnam War. It entered service with the ROC Air Force for forward air control and coastal patrol missions in 1971 and was decommissioned in 1985.
